The Company is driven by David’s philosophy of continuous education and training which he believes all salons should embrace with the mantra; “Educate to Motivate: Motivate to Educate”.
David started his hairdressing career over 35 years ago in the UK as assistant to Anthony Mascolo, the driving force and image creator of TONI&GUY at the time. David progressed through the company from Art Director to European Education Director, a position he held for five years whilst performing in over 30 countries around the world.
David relocated in 1995 to introduce TONI&GUY to South-East Asia. He has played a key role in establishing a chain of highly successful salons and 2 academies in Singapore and Malaysia.
David is passionate about hair and the business of hairdressing, which encompasses not only hair cutting but business strategies, salon management, team building and educational training. His wealth of experience, creativity and natural showmanship see him in huge demand for shows, seminars and business courses around Asia.
Rickie is an acclaimed technician within TONI&GUY and is known for his creative talent in all aspects of colour work. He began his career with TONI&GUY in 2004 and has taken his training to the highest level under the guidance of the Technical Art Directors at TONI&GUY Academy London.
The technical strength in his work enables him to create true versatility within a personal style. Rickie’s passion has helped him truly master all areas of technical hairdressing.
Rickie is the head of the technical team and works closely with all of the technical trainers at our TONI&GUY Academy. He customised the syllabus and training method to suit each student training programme. He leads the Colour foundation to advanced colour courses, appears at shows and seminars educating and inspired hairdressers and gives expert advice on the TONI&GUY colour trends and techniques around the region.
Edwin joined TONI&GUY Kuala Lumpur in Year 2012 after having years of experience with Essensuals Hairdressing in Singapore. Graduating as a full course student from TONI&GUY Academy Kuala Lumpur inspired him to join TONI&GUY to continue to seek world class education that all the best hairdressers want.
His distinctive eye for beauty, coupled with his natural flair for sculpting glamorous
looks, has earned him a loyal clientele from across all walks of life. Edwin’s infectious energy and remarkable creativity have won him wide recognition via magazine shoots with leading designer brands.
Edwin disfavours conventional techniques in hairdressing and this has driven him constantly keep abreast on the latest development of styles & techniques in the hairdressing industry. Edwin has gained invaluable exposure with TONI&GUY through past involvements in numerous fashion shows, events, and seminars.
Zuray joined the TONI&GUY Kuala Lumpur team in year 2013, right after he completed the Beginner’s course at TONI&GUY Academy Kuala Lumpur.
At the age of 23, the intelligence and thoughtfulness with which he approaches his
craft is truly visionary. His strength in customised colour enables him to create truly bespoke looks for each client.
Zuray’s strength lies in all chemical work (colour, texture, suitability) which means no style is unattainable for his clients. He is involved in Basic to Advanced Colour Courses in TONI&GUY Academy. Zuray also appears at shows and seminars educating hairdressers.
William started his journey with TONI&GUY Malaysia in year 2004. After completing his training with TONI&GUY in the UK he has quickly become an integral member of the team, fulfilling a varied role as an instructor and client favourite. William has now risen to become a Managing Director together with David, Rickie and Steve for TONI&GUY Malaysia.
Acclaimed for being an industry pioneer, William has successfully brought TONI&GUY Malaysia to greater heights with the belief in education, intimate tailor made hair services & distinctive styling to suit individual’s needs.
Having working in the industry for 15 Years, William believes a proper education in hairdressing is an invaluable knowledge for all hairdressers. He devotes his time working closely with TONI&GUY International Directors in exploring innovative styles & techniques, providing regional training of internal staff, as well as making personal appearances at both local & international seminars.
Matt began his hairdressing career 28 years ago in the UK, he worked with TONI&GUY Mayfair and Sloane Square. Appointed as Creative Technical Director for Europe, Matt appeared in shows and seminars around the world, educating hairdressers whilst also running TONI&GUY Academy, London courses as a leader in the field of colour and technical work.
Matt successfully ran a TONI&GUY salon in the UK before relocating to Malaysia where he launched the dynamic TONI&GUY salon at The Troika in Kuala Lumpur.
Matt’s hair cutting and colour skills are much in demand and his extensive technical experience and knowledge are valued in shows and seminars.
Joanna joined the education team immediately after she completed her vardering programme at our flagship salon. Prior to her vardering Joanna also completed the Beginner’s course at TONI&GUY Academy and achieved the “Best Student” award.
Joanna’s knowledge is second to none and she is involved all levels of stylist training at TONI&GUY Academy. From Beginner’s to Foundation Cutting (designed specifically for hairdressers to upgrade their cutting skills) Joanna loves to share her research, knowledge & experience amongst the students.
Roy’s career began by chance through curiosity of the industry, but he quickly became a talented and ambitious hairdresser at the forefront of the hair revolution, and today has a truly international clientele.
He started out as an apprentice in 2004, but Roy flourished under the expert guidance of TONI&GUY Technical Artistic team.
Today he manages the flagship store and has made his mark as a versatile technician who thrives on the interesting and unexpected. Roy has become a master of versatile colour palettes, expertly matching bespoke colourways with both the complexions and personalities of his clients.
